Hey guys, remember the ticket I received a while back?

Well I was about to pay it, but they told me they didn't put it under my name but under my father's name. I don't want my father to have demerit points on his license because of me, so what can I do about this? So far i've told my father to contest it and wait for the court date.

If the ticket is under your fathers name, and your father didn't commit the offense, that sound like your ticket should be dismissed in court*

Wait, what? You got a ticket out driving and they filled it out to your dad who wasn't driving? I don't know where you live, but around here that's grounds for dismissal... it's not valid to issue the ticket to a third party.

As an example I borrowed my brothers car once, got a ticket for nonsense (cop was just running a speed trap and trying to meet quota). He was in such a hurry to process cars he had prefilled the ticket before he even got to my window. Ended up, he filled it out off the registration not my ID (which he briefly glanced at) and thus to my brother. We went to court. The officer gave his BS remarks, I stood up and asked him who he wrote the ticket to. He pointed at me. I then pointed at my brother and told him that's the one who's name was on the ticket, then he stood up and said he was at work. The judge looked very angry, dismissed the ticket, and called the officer to the stand for a "chat".

I was driving my father's car alone when it happened. They took the info from the license plate I guess.

I'm with liquid. Fight that shit. If you're concerned mostly about the points, that's usually the first thing they throw out when you fight them. All they want is your money.
